THE INDEPENDENCE PROJECT

• YKP diundang untuk sama-sama mewakili sebahagian daripada institusi alternatif dalam bidang seni negara melalui pameran ‘The Independence Project’ di Galeri Petronas, KLCC pada 12 Disember 2007 – 10 February 2008.
  
  Projek kolaboratif antara Galeri Petronas dan Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces, Melbourne ini dianjur sempena Ulangtahun ke 50 Perhubungan Diplomatik antara Malaysia dan Australia.  The Independence Project ini dipersembahkan oleh Kerajaan Australia melalui Australia International Cultural Council, sebuah inisiatif dari Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
  
  Pameran utama menampilkan karya-karya daripada pelukis kedua negara seperti Zehra Ahmed, Richard Bell, Boatpeople, Sharon Chin, David Griggs, Mark Hilton, Roslisham Ismail @ Ise, Helen Johnson, Vincent Leong, Liew Kung-yu, Ahmad Fuad Osman, Tim Silver, Shooshie Suaiman, Wong Hoy Cheong, Yap Sau Bin dan Yee I-Lann.
  
  Manakala ruang-ruang independen atau kolektif seni diwakili oleh :
  
  Malaysia – Parking Project, Yayasan Kesenian Perak (YKP), Rumah Air Panas (RAP), SiCKL serta  Australia – Citylights, Conical, Clubs, Westspace
  
  YKP dengan bangganya mempersembahkan karya-karya oleh Ili Farhana, Kamal Sabran, Fauzi Sedon, Rahmat Haron dan Zaslan Zeeha yang merupakan antara penggiat seni tempatan yang memberi sokongan dan kerjasama kepada YKP selama ini.
  
  
  

  YKP is invited to represent a segment of the country’s alternative art institution through ‘The Independence Project’ at Galeri Petronas KLCC on 12th December 2007 – 10th February 2008.
  
  This collaborative project between Galeri Petronas and Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces, Melbourne is organised in conjunction with the commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Malaysia and Australia. The Independence Project is presented by the Australian Government through the Australia International Cultural Council, an initiative of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
  
  The main exhibition presents works by artists from both countries such as Zehra Ahmed, Richard Bell, Boatpeople, Sharon Chin, David Griggs, Mark Hilton, Roslisham Ismail @ Ise, Helen Johnson, Vincent Leong, Liew Kung-yu, Ahmad Fuad Osman, Tim Silver, Shooshie Suaiman, Wong Hoy Cheong, Yap Sau Bin and Yee I-Lann.
  
  Independent spaces or arts collective are represented by: Malaysia – Parking Project, Yayasan Kesenian Perak (YKP), Rumah Air Panas (RAP), SiCKL serta Australia – Citylights, Conical, Clubs, Westspace.
  
  YKP is proud to present works by Ili Farhana, Kamal Sabran, Fauzi Sedon, Rahmat Haron and Zaslan Zeeha, amongst local artists whom continue to support and cooperate with YKP all these while.
